WCMMNA is encouraging all metropolitan-based associations to get involved and enter as many teams as possible into the two divisions. The association will have a registration window for association-based teams and encourages any individuals interested in playing to get in touch with their local association. Following this, there may be the opportunity for individuals to register interest and be directed to an association seeking athletes. Finally, non-association based registrations will be accepted, provided the minimum requirements above are met. Looking ahead, the program has the ability to expand the number of divisions and age groups, based on number of team entries.
President Jerome Gillbard and Head Coach Lorraine Ward commented on the FTP program;
"From 12 years old boys currently have limited opportunity to play netball and even more limited access to a formalized program, coaching, match play and development. This program aims to directly address that limitation and provide these boys with a pathway to continue with a sport they love. We hope this program will provide an opportunity for every boy across the Perth metropolitan region to continue with their chosen sport. Hopefully in the future this model can be expanded across the state and into the regions to see the continuation of boys participating in the sport." - Jerome Gillbard
"This program is hopefully the beginning of closing the gap for young males to participate in their chosen sport. While there may not be enough numbers at Association level to run a boys competition this program will allow them to play and continue to develop their skills and knowledge of the sport . It's an exciting opportunity for all." - Lorraine Ward
Spread the word, get your friends, brothers, cousins and/or sons involved.
